Location

“The Marigny and Bywater are shining examples of how history and urban renewal can successfully merge together to create a funky harmony only found in New Orleans. A commitment to preservation and diversity along with a heavy influence from the arts makes for beautiful and vibrant neighborhoods.”
– New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau

If you haven’t experienced Faubourg Marigny, you’re in for a treat. This is the fastest growing spot to experience the best food, drink and fun in New Orleans. And Elysian Fields Inn is right in the heart of it.

Elysian Fields Avenue, named for the Champs-Élysées in Paris, is the main street of Faubourg Marigny, or what the locals call “The Marigny”. It was the first street in New Orleans to connect the Mississippi River to Lake Pontchartrain, and according to ancient Greek mythology, Elysian Fields is where the Gods go to play in their afterlife.

The Marigny is heaven on earth for architectural buffs, music lovers, and foodies. Just a short block from Elysian Fields Inn is festive and historic Frenchmen Street, home of over 60 fabulous restaurants and bars, and a delightful local artists’ market. Enjoy delicious local creole cuisine, quaint bohemian shopping, and live music every day of the week.

The famous French Quarter is just five short blocks up river as the locals say, or southwest to be clear. When you decide to venture out of the Marigny to experience the legendary sights, sounds and tastes of the French Quarter, Elysian Fields Inn is your perfect launch pad.

"Very nice place, very clean! I was 100% satisfied with our stay! My friend and I required unique sleeping arrangements... Not a problem, they went above and beyond to accommodate! When I inquired about a safe, secure location to park my motorcycle for the night/weekend, without hesitation they were able to find a solution for us!"

"My husband and I stayed here last weekend. What a nice place. Bob and Michelle were so nice. The room was lovely with a nice bathroom. We slept very well. The breakfast is served from 8a-10a. I'm not much of a breakfast eater so I tried the sausage and fruit. It was very good. My husband had eggs, sausage, toast and fruit. He thought it was very good and enjoyed the hot sauce with his eggs. There is a sweet dog there named Beck."

"This was our third visit in as many years to Elysian Fields Inn. We loved the previous owners and were a little worried when we learned Inn had changed hands just a few weeks before our return visit. We were delighted to find the new owners to be friendly and charming and enthusiastic about their new venture. They have made a few changes to the lovely inn, which is located close to Frenchman Street and a short walk to the French Quarter. Breakfasts are nice, and oh my, that blueberry French toast casserole! Highly recommend."
DonnaDAF – TripAdvisorNew owners, still great!
"Only there for two nights, but we settled in immediately. The room was spacious and clean, the bed very comfortable, and the lofty ceilings with crown molding made it all seem quite regal. An excellent location, we were just blocks from the music on Frenchmen Street, with an easy walk to our favorite old places in the Quarter and our favorite new (to us) places in Bywater. Owners Michelle and Bob were gracious, personable and eager to help us find restaurants and other shops that would be a good fit for us. And the breakfasts were superb! Highly recommended all round."
James W – TripAdvisorExcellent Inn, and even better hosts!
"My fiancée and I spent four nights at Elysian Fields Inn on our first visit to New Orleans. It was a perfect vantage point from which to explore the city and Bob & Michelle were wonderful hosts. Our room was beyond expectations for such a reasonable price and every day's breakfast was even better than the last. (Don't miss out on the pancakes.) We can't recommend this B & B enough. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to The Big Easy. 5/5"
